@Sam, replying in new message as the thread does not allow further replies.

Your memory of Myth’s mention of the racing tachometer is correct. Visual difference only, you need to rely purely on the shifter light.

The mismatch of revs and shift light is why I prefer to stick to stock tachometers, apart from the problem of not winning story mode undefeated… (only my S30 got the undefeated streak, which felt like a miracle).

Also agree with your assessment about the R32 small quirk in handling. It is very tempting to drive it like a FR because it responds that well… until the back of the R32 smacks into the wall when you do typical FR steering. By right it should be remedied by letting off throttle to 1.5 turbo boost instead of steering with full turbo boost into corners…

    • Sam

Thanks for the tip @AL! It seems like I am getting better at handling this car now and I am surprised on how easy this car drives based on the handling feel and stability.

Update for R32 since I went to push from story 26 to 30 and grinded for dress up rank 10 vs a 600HP/B->620HP/B Lancer Evo 9.

Shifting somewhere between 8000 and 9000 rpm is viable, but the exhaust backfire noise is less pronounced the further away you are from 9000 rpm. I presume this flexibility helps best for technical courses where you have to consider shift timing. In straight line battles, I am not sure, but would recommend pushing as close to 9000 rpm before shifting.

Shifting right at 8000 rpm is a bit iffy, preferably cross that mark first.

Or if not sure, just shift when you are somewhere in that range, and start feeling diminishing returns for acceleration in that gear.

        • Sam

@AL, as you said about the loud crack sound when shifting up at the optimum rpm, I only heard the crack sound during shift up from 2nd to 3rd gear, but not on the shift up during (3rd->4th and 4th->5th)though.
Probably gonna stick the GT-R on 600HP/B(story mode 20) as I am not planning to full tune it, along with other vehicles sitting at the same level as well.(excluding the four fully tuned vehicles I have in the rooster atm)
With that being said, I will probably use it as a pure online ghost battle machine and get dressup for the vehicle(alongside with the FD, FC, MF10, Z31, GG3P) xD

Just a Japan wiki entry on RCT passing through…

    http://wikiwiki.jp/wmmt/?RCT

As some suspected, it is a 6 gear version of the CTR… and has higher boost than the CTR. The last sentence in that analysis said something like, “in short, a vehicle that combines the acceleration behaviour of the CTR and the advantages of RT-35.”

From the sounds of that, people who want the performance of RT-35 in a CTR like body will like this vehicle a lot, barring the lack of dress up options.

Will appreciate if any RCT players can chip in confirmation or correction to this. Thanks.

  3. I have a Question about what car to choose. Do you recommend 5 gears because I have seen some people use them currently I am using a 6 gear. Second question any Thoughts on difference of 5 and 6 or 7 gear?

    • Sam

First question: It’s up to your personal taste and thoughts honestly. Use the vehicles you like without regarding their gearing systems that are natural-based feel for you to drive.

Second question: Normally six and seven geared vehicles have the edge in high speed courses such as the Wangan, Yokohane etc. (Seven geared vehicles are more or less the same like six geared vehicles, only the first gear is deleted and it is replaced with the second gear and so on.)
Five geared vehicles tend to have a disadvantage on high speed courses due to their gearing range, but five geared vehicle suits well on technical courses such as Hakone and Mount Taikan due to its flexibility in gear shifting.
*However the info stated above for Q2 doesn’t really apply to In-Store VS battles though.

    • Sam

The Hiace is not good for neither ghost battles nor time attack.
It has a very slow acceleration and weak boost recovery which was often punished with a slow catchup if you had done a mistake.
However, if you are planning to use it as a troll vehicle to derp around in MT 5DX, then go ahead. (brake blocking etc)

Any thoughts on the first gen RX-7 (SA22C) its advantages and its disadvantages and where is it good at in high-speeds courses (Wangan) or in corner-based courses (Hakone). It is because I am planning to make one and probably main the car in the future
